Art Classes
Has art always been an interest to you? Have you ever wanted to learn about the artistic process? Would you like to reserve time just for yourself each week to be creative and dive into a specific medium? Then, art classes are right for you!
All new students follow the core curriculum listed below to learn the basics of shape, proportion, value, and color. Once they have completed the course curriculum, students may choose a medium of their choice and work on a project at their own pace in order to master the medium.
Core Curriculum
Lessons 1 - 3: Learning to Draw What You See (Medium Used: Charcoal) - Learn how to use charcoal to make basic shapes, understand how to draw objects in the correct proportion, and discover the how to render value changes made by light.
Lesson 4: Master's Study (Medium Used: Graphite or Charcoal) - Learn by studying a Master's work. Starting with learning how to grid the Master's reference, you will transfer the drawing in order to replicate the Master's work and dive deeper into how to add value, proportion, and form to a drawing.
Lesson 5: Color Theory (Medium Used: Watercolor) - Learn how to mix any color from the three primary colors: red, yellow, and blue. During this lesson, you will create your own color wheel in order to give you the foundation needed when working with color in any medium. Once you have completed this lesson, you can select a medium of your choice to learn how to apply what you have learned from the Core Curriculum.
Cost? Monthly tuition of $140 entitles you to attend 4 two hour classes in the month. Students can either attend on 4 consecutive weekly classes.
Tuition is collected on the first day of class in the month.
Supplies? Bring a large 23"x26" drawing board with clips to the first class and I will supply all the materials needed for the first 5 lessons. After the Core Curriculum is completed, you will be responsible for purchasing the supplies for the medium of your choice (i.e. watercolor, colored pencil, oil pastel, etc...)
